KIA attending to horse lines outside a church in Bonny France 22nd June 1918 1 week after this photo was taken.
He was resting after just returning from the front lines with his horse team
90 years to the day this year
A stray german HE 77mm shell landed just 5 feet in front of him and knocked him out (nice way of saying he was blown appart)
