Default Morris PU in Normandy Landings

I have been corresponding with Mike Simpson [of Trux website fame] who has been researching some D-Day landing tables and has found some unusual items including a unit called "VHF advanced maintenance section' this section comprised 7 men, 1 Jeep 1 8cwt Morris PU
I can imagine that there were a few 8cwt trucks still in use at bases/depots etc. but find it hard to immagine liberating France in one!
For various reasons we think the unit is Navy and landed on the second tide of the first day. The information comes from official documents from National Archives.

I know there are some very knowledgable fans of Morris Commercial out there so come on guys help us out.

p.s. also see the Royal Navy vehicles thread for a question relating to 30cwt vehicles in the same tables.

Noel,

hmm, that sounds very interesting. The subject of 8cwt's in Normandy has been covered on MLU before, but just as you said...the overall idea was that no PU's made the jump. It would be interesting to find out more on this specific case!
