If you cannot get one, it may be worth speaking to Alistair on the carrier forum he is building one out of a wreck, essentially they are a truck chassis with universal carrier running gear, the upper sections are thin tin (you could build one from scratch) Mr Vissor has also restored a great Loyd, its worth searching in that forum.

Cheers

Richie

You are right that they are built on a truck chassis.
Yes they do run a Ford v8, yes they run a ford 4 speed box, and yes they run a Ford axle. but there are a lot of bits unique to the Loyd that would be hard to find, and hard to make.
Alistair is pretty damn brave, but at least he started with loyd bits.
Anything is possible, but you would have to be a real masochist.

Lynn, you need to start a restoration thread for your LP1 and AOP. They would be very interesting reading.

Default Alex and Lew and Buster

Alex, I havent done it because progress is a bit like a lizard drinking.

Lew, Thats my (1/2 a) Jeep under there.

Is there a thread we haven't de-railed somewhere?

Buster, How are you getting on hunting for a Loyd?

Some people say Loyds are the best carriers, but some of us psycho's love rivets!

Would you happen to be (still) looking for a Loyd Carrier?

There's one for sale on MilWeb at the moment: http://www.milweb.net/webvert/
