Default Australia predicts Gold Medal in Hockey !

UNFORETUNATELY,when pointed out to the Australian team that it was ICE hockey versus FIELD hockey, the team deferred from participation, suggesting they be transferred to the "Sheep Sheering " competition!! The last update we can report is that the Italian Olympic Commitee is meeting and trying to figure out what the name "Sheep" means!!

OH well,win some,lose some.

Just finished watching the opening ceremonies and must admit the entrance of the Canadian olympic team brought a very large lump to the throat of this proud Canadian. Can't wait for 2010, I'll be there rooting on the hockey team and the downhill skiers. Are there any other winter olympic sports?

Default Update Bulletin !

While sipping on his third bottle of excellent Italian vino at a trattoria(bar) here in Torino or Turin,or whatever the hell the name of this burg is,your MLU Olympic reporter has learned the following from his contact in the local Carabinari(Italian for cop):
1)A dozen sheep were stolen from a hillside farm approx 25 miles north of this burg
2)Witnesses report that the ringleader was called "Mad Max" by his cohort,a short woman weilding a frying pan,as she enticed the sheep up a plank into the rear of a truck using a biscuit called "Taam Tams" from the empty package left at the scene.
3)Witnesses report the truck was an army green color with a front sloping windscreen with a hole in the left top part of the cab,AND that the front looked like a bulldog.
After I finish my bottle(oops I mean glass) of wine, your reporter will update any findings.Boy this wine is good!

Looks like the secrets out Karmen didn't really go to Calgary, she's supposed to be minding my sheep in a secret location ready to spring on the Canadian hockey team. I told that fry pan swinging little pixie not to been seen and not to eat the tim tams no matter what.

By the way please don't tell any Australians that you are rooting the hockey team, you might get thumped.

Max

Default Aussie Dictionary

Root: What Aussie sheep fear...

Rooting: Why Aussie sheep fear the root.

This would explain why the Aussie exchange folks here in Ottawa chuckle every time they walk past the downtown "Roots" retail store...

As to other winter sports worth watching:

Women's figure skating - for very obvious reasons that have nothing to do with Olympic sports ...

Curling - where else can you find a flabby 300 lb, cigarette smoking, beer chugging fellow who is referred to as an athlete?

Don't you just love it when someone who doesn't know the local vernacular opens their gob and sticks their foot in it! LOL! It's the same when a Brit comes to Canada and says, "I'll knock you up sometime."

The important thing is whether one is the "rooter" or the "rootee"

So, I guess it means something completely different when I hear that an Aussie's pride for his country is "deeply rooted" in Aboriginees where the first Europeans set down their "roots"

CHIMO!
