Hull #
Hey All
I was outside the other night and decided to attack my one carrier with some light sandpaper, I happened to find a hull number on it and thought I would see what kind of info I could fine about it. The number is 24611 with a strange C and a line running vertical through the C, (it does not look like a broad arrow). Any information that I can find would be greatly appreaciated. Gary

Hey Richard
I found it on the rear left (left being the gunner's side) piece of angle iron. Gary

HI Gary
That should be your lower hull #. They don't seem to match up with the upper hull # but some on here have been tracking them. To at least look for any kind of pattern. Nice find though. Jordan

That will be the lower hull number in the Mk2 range. The numbers of the upper, lower, and serial number could vary by several hundred. Serial numbers of the mk1 and mk2 carriers were sequential and would have run almost to 29000, so yours is 4000 or so from the end of production.
Mk1 carriers ran from serial 1 and up to somewhere in the high teens(17,000 to 19,000). There was some overlap of mk1 and MK2 production that I have seen, then all the serials in the 20,000s were mk2 as far as I know. Last edited by rob love; 12-07-10 at 22:24. |
