Mk 1 attempt
Guys,
Had some pieces brazed together that I had assembled for a key to open the escape hatches from the outside. Like the history of the Lynx, my version works, but could be better. I think that my Mk 2 version will take a page from Alastair's book and have a larger handle for better leverage. Peter |

Guys,
My son Patrick donated a nice 1943 Long Branch Lee Enfield to the Lynx, great step forward for the kit. Also got a new "to me" vintage picture of a Lynx 11, when the RCDs were the reconnaissance regiment for the 1st Canadian corps. Peter |

Social Distancing
Guys,
First really nice day this spring. Couldn't resist, fired up the Lynx and went for a jaunt. My block is 9 kms long, just nice to properly warm up the engine. Our local farmers have yet to work their fields, so we got in some cross country time through some fields and a wood lot as well. Continue to be pleasantly surprised at how nimble and quick the Lynx is for it's size. I suspect that the my grin will take several weeks to wear off. Peter |

Loose Lynx seen in Cherry Valley!
Wow! Peter, the Lynx looks really good in the woods! I think you need to now round out the photo portfolio - how about a bit (whole lot) of mud and maybe a stream or creek crossing? You might need a co-driver for that! Keep up the great work and Keep them rolling!
Cheers,

More Gear
Guys,
Thank you for the positive comments. Now thanks to Richard Hatkoski, the Lynx now has a nice Dewat Inglis Bren Mk 11. The ride was part of the deal. The two of us now have grins that seem etched on. Peter |

Last weekend I noticed the picture attached, showing some serious firepower on a Lynx. A .50 and .30 on one mount(?) source: https://www.oudommen.nl/beeldbank/?category=64&page=3

What are the odds ?
Alex,
Once again, thanks for the "new to me" picture of a Lynx 11, in service during WW 11. I don't know the odds, but "Marco" posted two period pictures of the same Lynx 11, on posts 255 through 258, back in November 2015. Being realistic, my Lynx will never end up with this array of firepower, but I do dream of a pintle mounted 0.30 some day. Thanks, Peter Jordan will interested in the link that you posted, I noticed on page 5 a nice picture of an Otter. |

I completely missed those! I did have a quick look to see if the picture had already been posted before, but other than dropping the thread into a google search, I haven't found an easy way to do so. I have changed the link above to a more direct link to their WW2 images, which should make is easier for the non-Dutch speakers to scroll through the images. Alex

Silent Tribute
Guys,
Since all our public D Day events have been cancelled due to the Covid 19 outbreak, I decided to place the Lynx at the end of our drive for the day. Lest we forget, Peter |

Guys,
With the relaxing of our Covid guidelines, our social bubble expanded over the weekend. My brother in law visited with his lady friend, Wendy. Needless to say this resulted in a spin in the Lynx. Peter |

Tribute
Guys,
The Lynx and I had the privilege of participating in a tribute for Ed Stafford. Ed was a Trooper with the Governor General's Horse Guards during the Italian campaign and served on Lynx's. The Warriors Day Memorial parade in which Ed normally participates was cancelled this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, so the decision was made to bring a convoy of military vehicles to Ed, as a surprise tribute. Ed is a fit 99 year old veteran, who not only took a spin "around the block" in the Lynx, but went on to commandeer a current TAP-V from the Governor General"s Horse Guards. (pictured under Ed's outstretched right arm). My thanks to our OMVA secretary, Terry Witiuk, for organizing the event, Hagerty Insurance for covering expenses, and Robin Craig for the logistics of transporting the Lynx. Peter |

Awesome! It's been a tough year. Any opportunity to get your MV out for a drive is great. Peter...the work that you've put into Mita is simply amazing. Maybe 2021 will be the year that I can enjoy a ride in her. All the best and look forward to meeting up again!

Lynx Experimental Prototype
Peter. Came across this on Facebook and thought it would be of interest to you....perhaps you already know about it. Maybe if you have some extra time on your hands this winter.....?
Tank,Artillery & Vehicle Thursday at Canadian Virtual Military Museum An experimental Lynx that never saw combat, WW 2 IMAGE - Canadian built Lynx Armoured Car with a 2 pounder anti-tank gun. There were a number of reasons why this prototype would be impractical on the battlefield. Source: Library & Archives Canada via tanks encyclopedia com Back Story to Photo The Canadian-built Lynx When the demand exceeded the capacity of Daimler, Ford Canada, in Windsor Ontario, begun production of a local derivative. The “Scout Car, Ford Mk.I”, also called the “Lynx armoured car”. Almost identical, it was one foot taller because of the Ford transmission. The Ford engine was more powerful, but both the transmission and suspension were inferior to the Dingo’s. In all, 3255 were delivered from 1943 to 1945. An experimental prototype was built that mounted a 6 pdr gun on the Lynx hull. https://www.facebook.com/1greatvirtu...onalexperience

Comments
Guys,
If I ever get off my butt and back to finishing the Lynx, my next challenge will be to recreate the Observer/gunner's seat. I really should access a real live one and get all the correct information. Andrew Rowe also supplied me with some pictures of the front "splash shields" which is another missing element on the Lynx. Now to find the time and energy. |

When I got the RCA Museum's lynx running several years ago, the same seat was missing, and I thought I would have to make something up. Months later I found it in a storage shed elsewhere on base laying in a triwall full of picture frames.
