Default Bantams?

Hi there

Whilst going through the War Diary of the Irish Regiment of Canada, I came upon a document issued by HQ 11 Canadian Infantry Brigade in late November 1944 . It was a list of penalties applied against officers and men who had not posted a guard on a vehicle in their charge and said vehicle had been stolen. Several people were fined up to 50 pounds toward the replacement costs of stolen Ford Bantams.

Is it unusual to see Jeeps referred to as Bantams this late in the war?

Steve
