Is it the same as the Humber and Ferret Jack Chris?

Dave.

Hi Dave, I am unsure on that but it is a possibility. Also Jack, here is a photo of the one on the dingo in the Normandy tank museum.

Hello Chris, the atached photo is a Humber/Ferret jack. A few differences in particular the square to round base. Picked this one up from Tim Vibret about 3 weeks ago. Got put onto them by Richard as he got the one before me. Tim still had one left after mine, however, he has a pallet full of british type jacks with their CES. If you search for Empire Trading it is located at Winton you may never know your luck. Paid $130 for it.

Hope this assists.

Dave.

Hi Chris,

A couple years ago I bought a proper dingo jack from Peter-Geert Hommes. It looks like he doesn't have any at the moment, but he might have some in the offing.

Chris,
That jack is often substituted on Dingos as the baseplate slides in the stowage the same, but the body is fatter and top pad is larger than the correct one. The retainer in the photo has been bent to suit and also relies on the web strap, whereas with the correct jack, the retainer is hooked on and jack screwed up until it is held firm.

regards, Richard

This looks like the Jack shown on the Dingo.

Hi Rich,
That jack is the one in the photo and was still being produced for the last 4 ton Bedfords as part of the kit. There is an extension that slides on top pad if needed for extra height.

Hi Chris,

Some more photos of a Dingo jack with the correct handle can be seen in the Carrier forum. Search for Mk2 carrier jack. Post #23, 24, 25.

Cheers,
