What's the purpose of this?

Can anyone shed any light on the purpose of the small clip on the lower hull next to the Commander's seat (the one slightly above the seat handle)?

I'm guessing maybe the BREN cleaning rod that fits in the BREN wooden transit chest, or something for the Boys AT Rifle?
