Part identification
I have been trying to identity this part, but so far no luck. It’s time to call on the experts.
Part # CTL-99-B2. FMCO 42 Thanks Eric |

Eric,
The numbered part of that very interesting assembly is easy to identify. CTL 99 B is a “Bearing - spring” that fits at both ends of the bogie spring guide rods. There should be 16 of them on a universal carrier. As for the rest of the assembly (threaded rod, hand wheel etc), I have no idea what someone was attempting to make. Don’t chuck it in the scrap bin just yet, that handwheel might well have military origins, and it might be sought after by someone. Colin |

Hande wheel
Looks like the traverse/elevation hand wheel from a field gun carriage (just the handwheel, not the rest - see previous post by Colin)
Is there a part number on it? Mike Last edited by Mike Cecil; 04-07-20 at 16:37. |

Ok thanks for the info, so this is a custom pice for another application then. I was taking it for granted that it was a pice off a carrier.
I’m thinking my dad would have made it some something he needed it for. I have found all kinds of different things he made years ago using pieces off his carrier. Was no Walmart back then and living in the country was not a quick trip to your parts store so home made was only choice. The best thing he made was a half track. He took a 1947 Mercury 2 ton and cut the frame shorter, turned front axel over for more clearance. Made a set of tracks out of carrier tracks for it using the 2 road wheels and top idler. Tracks are assembly not much bigger then the modern ATV tracks. I tell you did that truck go places. I will have to look closer at it tomorrow to see if there is any more numbers on it. Once again thanks for the information Eric |

It would be great to see a photo of the truck....
My grandfather built a compressor for paint spraying using what turned out to be the tire pump for a Staghound armoured car and an air brake reservoir from a truck. David |
