Default F8 for restoration

I have been lucky enough to acquire an Cab 12 F8 in pretty good shape but in need of major restoration. I will try to attach pics but not sure how.
Civvy steel work needs removing but original "long box?" still there. Also lights have been modified. Where did the spare wheel go - or was there reliance on run-flats?
Wheels have been changed to 7.00x16 which was a mod apparently available from Princess Auto in Ontario in the 50's / 60's. Original wheels and two tires are in the box.
Would like to know if this long box was a radio type, given all of the storage bins.
The oil filter is mounted on the inside of the dash! Not original surely?
Engine will probably require major work - anyone know of a good flathead 8 restorer in Ontario?

Original dataplates are in place:

Serial 21435 11/7/41 (- is this July or November?)
Motor 2G 45176-F
Model F-8
S/M OR C/D 98

Anyone have a spare -roof hatch, front tow rings, marker lights, crank handle, rear pintle spring, Ford rad badge.....

HELP! Can't seem to attach photos!

Hey, the photo attach worked! Here are some more

There is a small maker's plate on the rear of the body. Haven't been able to read it yet.

May I add these pics to my F8 page.

Do you have more pics?

Keith
Please use info and pics freely. I will send a few more pics directly to you. Know where I can get a repro Ford script for the dash panel? I now realise what the "empty" screw holes on the dash were for originally!
The box on this vehicle is longer than the one in your attachments.

Cheers
David

Default Side curtains......

Quite the lucky find David.

I am working on a cab 11 and assuming that the side curtains are the same for Chev and Ford...... comments from the other readers will be appreciated..... I would love to work with you to develope some plans to reproduce said curtains..... Phil in NH. I am sure would be interested also.......maybe others....

Marc Hutchkins in Kingstone area as cab 11 and 12 and maybe able to contribute to the effort.

Default F8 's

Hi David,

What's the green truck to the left and in front of the one you have acquired ? It looks like an early bodied F or C8 to me, plus the steering wheel appears to be on the right hand side also.

It's featured in the last photo you posted. Could there be TWO 8 hundredweights at this location ?

A super find, well done David.

David, Brian Asbury has a good running flathead complete, believ asking $950. Hardly worth rebuilding yours. Last one I had done was close to $3000.
Ford script, parts and accessories available at many antique auto suppliers or even jobbers for most mech parts.

Here's some more.
The easiest way to tell if your F8 was a radio or personnel version is to look for all the little grounding straps that join all the sheetmetal panels on the radio version. The F8 wouldn't have had the pintle hitch setup.

To all the folks who kindly replied to this thread - thanks!

To cletrac - yep, that last image, the 1B2 style box is exactly right - and there is a spare "radio" seat in the back. Will check on the grounding straps. Glad I held on to my chore horse! Lesson - don't sell things you might eventually need!

To Chris - I'll check with Brian about the V8 motor.

To Nigel - good spotting! Yes, that is the remains of another 8 cwt - a C8 in this case. I had owned these remains myself once - long story. Got them from Jim Fraser. There's very little left of value and the guy wants to keep them.

To Bob Carriere - I would like to collaborate as you suggest. There is only one side screen on my vehicle and it is pretty rough but would do as an excellent pattern. Will you be at Oshawa? I plan to attend. I will be contacting Mark. I also needs lots of other bits and pieces including a roof hatch which has been plated over.

Cheers
David

Default OshNawa....

Will be looking forward to meeting you.....in Oshawa... I am coming down with Rob Clarke.

...... one curtain should be enough to prepare a pattern......

I intend to visit Marc and do a photo shoot of his Cab 11 and 12 and might try to see your new beast at the same time...... just waiting for Sunny weather to get here........ might take Rob down with me.

Bob
Will see you on Saturday.

I haven't got my new toy home yet - probably won't be 'til after I get back from a brief trip to the UK. I would hope to have it here by the weekend of June 18/19 if that's a convenient time for you to visit. It will be at my cottage about 30km. north of Kingston on Hwy15.
Cheers

Hi Bob and the rest,

Dirk Leegwater (LwD) has NOS side curtains for 11 and 12 cab,
maybe easier than making new ones......
And there is a huge lot of F8 spares in the warehouse, maybe that helps.

Cheers,

Stefan Leegwater

Stefan

Like Bob, I couldn't find any listing of side curtains on the Lwd website . Also, many of the parts that I could find have no price attached.

What would be the price of the side curtains?

Cheers
David

Default Savings in bulk.....

I would hope that there may be a savings in shipping bulk and combining our order together.

I would want to check with Phil Waterman for his needs and maybe others on the Forum.

We can still dicker with Dirk/Stefan individually on prices...hahaha but get one big box shipped surface may be a lot cheaper than individual freigth charges.

Bob
Good idea for bulk shipping. May apply to other parts too? I will be in for a pair of screens even though I have one original ( very frail). Assuming that the price is not extreme!

Does anyone know of F8 inner and outer door handles - or are these another of those "hen's teeth" items?

David

David, Bob and others, there may be some shipping possibilities for all of you.
I myself and a couple others in the hobby, have some goods awaiting shipment from Leegwaters in Holland. At this time I think we were just waiting to gather enough stuff to make it worthwhile to ship.
Maybe if you guys want to buy up a bunch of stuff we might be able to get it sent all together and share costs?
I'm sure Dirk is tired of storing and tripping over our goods in his shop!

Hi guys,

Dirk has the NOS outer door handles (11 12 cab) maybe also the inner, he will be in touch with you guys shortly.

It might be a help if you have a parts list, then when you have a number, you can search it on the online list.

For excample; if you need a front drum with the number C01Q-1125 you go to "select a catagory" choose wheels, hubs and drums, and there you will see if it is on the list.

If not we might have a part in used condition, you can always ask!!

Cheers,

Stefan

Hi Stefan

I tried this for the door curtains that we were discussing on this thread....................

The part number in my book is Ford 755700-1.
I tried "doors" on the website and ---no luck!
What am I missing?

Cheers

Hi David,

Because of the huge, and I really mean HUGE stock, that Dirk bought, he did not completed the list so far.
Maybe also because of the regular business not everyday time for the warehouse to sort it out.
But we work hard to get the list more and more complete.

Sorry for the inconveniance sometimes, but we are getting there!!!

In the meanwhile we came across a hidden beauty, a C15!!!!

Cheers,

Stefan
