Default RFS Chev Blitz

Hi All,

Had some requests to post photos - see below. I had incorrectly noted the tyre size in a previous post, these are in fact 11.00-20 but do have the D^D markings.

Would be great if some of the resident "guru's" could give some history on the vehicle (if possible) based on the serial/build numbers. Beneath the RFS paint the number 71337 was stenciled/painted on the bodywork above the RH headlamp - is this an ARN number?

The truck belongs to my father-in-law, and we have put some significant work into the bodywork, mechanicals & electrics to get everything running and prevent any further corosion (not that it was that bad in the beginning).

All-in-all most of the truck is still there, and only seems to have been missing switches, horn, chev badge and window canvas'.

Current job is to find spare rims and tyres (which I have already had some good leads from this site - thanks to those who have offered assistance so-far), and get the tray back on.

Cheers.

Thought it was time to post an update on the progress of the Blitz.

Work is now complete, with the truck now registered and everything running.

Brakes have been reconditioned, tray shortened and re-decked, all electrics are complete, old tyres removed from rims (which were sandblasted and painted), and have sourced & fitted a used set of 1200x20 bar tread (ex acco).

Only minor work needs to be done now, engine service/tune and carb rebuild. Also speedo is in need of replacement, as the needle has broken off the original (but speedo cable is still functioning). If anyone can help with sourcing a replacement that would be great.

Also may need to replace the clutch in the near future, so again any advice on sourcing one would be appreciated.

Cheers

P.S. the seats have been temporarily re-done with curtain material - if anyone needs a contact for an upholsterer, please let me know!

Default bits

If replacing the clutch, a 1 tonner v8 Holden plate and thrust bearing go straight in. the plate is about 1/4" smaller all round but a lot cheaper and newer material. some pressure plates have bolt in belville spring making them easy to replace if cracked or damaged. Door tops easy made, use Perspex on steel flat frame with canvas front seal.

A couple of photos from the collection:

My father-in-law's father took a photo of his mates in New Guinea with a couple of Blitz's in the background.

And the truck that he owned after returning to Aus.
