Default difference Harley WLA and WLC???

Can anyone tell me the difference between the Harley-Davidson WLA and WLC?
I have just bought a beautiful 1/35 resin scale-model of the Harley-Davidson WLA, but I want to build it as a WLC. I want to ad it as cargo to my Dodge D15.
Were the WLC's produced in Canada?

Thanks, Alex van de Wetering, The Netherlands

Default WLC

Alex, the WLC was made by Harley- Davidson USA for the Canadian government. The key difference is in the wheel size, WLA used a 20" front and 16" rear whereas WLC had 16" wheels front and rear.
Another difference is the location of a toolbox on the front fender, headlight above the horn so it would shine over the toolbox. Early WLC (1942)had different front and rear marker lights but '43 used CMP style markers, the steel barreled type found on trucks etc. Hope this helps.

Default WLA-WLC Differences

I'm sorry, Chris, but you are wrong about the rims. Both models used the 18 inch rims fitted with 400-18 tires. Main differnce was that the WLA had a front wheel with the brake hub integrated in the spokes whereas the WLC front wheel was interchangable with the rear wheel as both had a brake hub attached with bolts. Other differences are:
WLA has front Ammo box and Gun rack, WLC doesn't
BO marker and tail lights are different
Most WLC are seen without windshield
Oil and petrol lines are steel on WLA and rubber on WLC
WLC have both front and rear wheel stands
WLA have throttle right and spark control left, WLC vice versa
WLC have added clutch hand control on left handlebar
WLC have no rear view mirror
Export WLC have no passenger seat
WLA have 42WLAxxxxx EngineNumber and WLC 43WLCxxxxx
WLC have ride control spring damper on front fork
etc.....

I suggest you read the SUPER EXCELLENT book by Bruce Palmer III called 'How to restore your Military Harley Davidson 1932-1952' ISBN 0 7603 0429 7 and abailable thru most online bookshops.

After several requests of WLC owners, I've made two separate pages about the WLC....
There's still some bits to be added.....

Default WLC?

Excuse my ignorance but would Canadian (RCASC, RCAOC) forces have used WLC models in England circa 1944, not WLA?

Although I have yet to see any photographic evidence of WLA's in Canadian Service; since seeing the US Army ride a WLC, I guess anything is possible.
For pictures of the WLC used by a 9th US Air Force Signal Unit, please go to the bottom of this page:

Although WLC could have been used by all branches of the Canadian Forces in Europe, it seems British made bikes (ie Norton 16H) were used in larger numbers and much more prominent. This is confirmed by period photographs.
