These are the amazingly complicated seat bases used in this version of the wireless truck .

Thank you Harry . The picture is of the skeleton of the generator compartment . A lot of work to be done in there , wiring , electrical boxes , conduits , exhaust lines … but a lot of fun also !

Default Generator cabinet

Pretty much completed the generator cabinet today . Fitted the original period correct Canadian military Onan 10 LS on the bottom and a Johnson Chorehorse on top . The Onan is going to power the Canadian No 19 High Power set with it’s 110 Volts .

Default Switch plate on generator cabinet

Here is the original in my other box . I am going to try to reproduce it . Now with an Onan 110 V generator and only one Chorehorse , there is going to be a disused circuit .

Robert; don't worry...the lack of feedback doesn't mean people aren't watching. I am enjoying your project very much and I am sure others do too.

Thank you Alex .As for the passenger side tool locker a spacer is necessary because of the spare wheel well hence it is not flush with the box .

Self explanatory. Question remains : Was it to prevent losing tools and equipment when rolling around with the generators doors open or was it to prevent theft ? A : Maybe a little bit of both .

Let me introduce you to Dorrick the master welder . Without his help i would be a cowboy without a horse . In the forefront the overbuilt , heavy , bullet proof 1 Gallon oil can locker . It goes on the left side ( passenger side ) of the truck rear and is bolted to the jerrycan locker . Thanks Bruce Parker .

Pack the tube full of dry sand before bending? (That was the usual approach to bending copper tubing if you didn't have a "pipe bending spring" of the appropriate size.)

Chris.

Default Onan generator

Here is a nice wartime pic of the elusive Onan 110/12 Volts 10LS generator that equiped some Wire -5 trucks and some HUW shop truck versions. Here it is being used to charge 6 Volts wireless set batteries in series using it’s 12 V output. It is noteworthy to say that all Wire-5 trucks were hard wired for 110 Volts but only those actualy fitted with a Canadian No 19HP set or the British No 19 HP version or in post-war with a No 52 set were they equiped with the Onan .Photo NA 12960 Imperial War Museum collection .

Default CMP Seat and Spare Tire

Robert - great work! You now should be able to put together a 3rd Wire-5 with your eyes closed....I have a tire with rim and a seat for you if you still need it. We just need to figure out how to get them to you. Send me a PM, cheers, Richard.

The fuse holders are from scrounged obsolete fuse panels and the fuses are from the hardware store . I use a standard built 12 X 12 inch electrical box with a cover that opens to the right You then punch out the holes as needed .I will admit this control panel is the most challenging part of the generator system restoration . You will understand the wiring of all this when you get the nice enlarged diagram i sent you by mail yesterday . It’s not for the faint of heart so to speak , it is complicated .The little switch on the bottom right is just a standard flip switch . It ´s neat function is to source the power from the two battery banks to start a generator . You get twice the amperage for start up . Don’t forget to switch it off when not starting as the warning says «* on for starting only «* The normal position is «*off*» .
