Data plate info needed
Hi everyone.
I just got my new made data plates the other day for my C15A Cab 13. I need some help in figuring out what info I should be filling in. My truck was originaly a mix of various trucks and I don't have really any info on when it was made. I know the dash came out of a C60 as it still had the data plates. The truck is going to have a late style dash (see photo). It also has a round roof hatch and wooden steering wheel. However I really like the look of the condensor can up on the fender so thats where it is going. It will be painted in SCC2. Does anyone have info on what I shoudl be stamping in on all the plates. Is there somewhere on the frame that has a chassis number to help out? I do have a metal tag that was attached to the steering box. The info on it is "Steering Gear Assy, Service number 5266918, General Motors of Canada" Does this help at all or is this just a part number? Any help is much appreciated.

Here is a picture of the entier dash as it is now. I still have to paint it in SCC2. What went in the hole just to the left of the dash jewel?

data plates
Take a look on the Old C.M.P site it gives a wide range of serial #s to figure out what goes where in your year and configuration

As a composit truck what numbers do you have?
Being a composite truck is probably a lot more common than “original” trucks. I suspect that any truck that went through any major rebuild ended up with a lot of bits and peaces that it didn’t start with.
Having said all that what numbers do you have, frame or engine? If you have either of those numbers either from the Old CMP Site or the CMP Registry or a copy of Peter Ford’s Info Facts numbers it may be possible to come up with a C15 number range. I have a copy of Peter Ford’s numbers.

HI Guys
I took a look on the Old CMP and the CMP registry sites. I found the numbers after a bit of searching. But Im still at a loss as to what to pick. I think it would be possible if I picked one that had a very late 1943 date on it or early mid 44 date that would be best for the options on my truck. The data plates came from Dirk in Holland. I also got the dash jewel from him. I was very impressed with the quality of the items. Check his site to see if he makes ones for Fords. The engine in my truck is from 1948 and therfore would not be of any help. Its picture is somewhere else on the forum. Where would I look on the frame to find the numbers? If someone could tell me what woudl be correct for each of the plates it would be most helpful. "Vehicle Model" Is this just C15A? "Publications Plate" Drivers Handbook ? Maint Maual MB-C2 Spare Parts ? "Data Plate" Chassis Model ? Is it C15A or does it have the "Van" class Cab Model 13 Chassis Serial ? where do I look for this? Engine Serial ? Mine is post war Order Number ? Date of MFG ? "Caution weight plate" Not to exceed _____ LBS. isn't it something like 8500 LBS or close to it.

Build plate
I may be able to help you! I always try!!!
The Cab will be 13..but the chassis number is that for the chassis that is there now and it will have the model year/model number/sequential number, e.g. 284450012345. You may find the number stamped on the chassis, or perhaps it is on the rego title? Engine number will be the original engine number, e.g. PR3456789. The Order Number will be the Canadian, Australian or British contract number...e.g. LV 1534 or SM / S/M 3456, and the the date will be the date of manufacture. What I can do is send you a file with known serial numbers/ engine numbers and you could then decide to use what genuine numbers you have that you can use and then add in those that approximate.

Hi guys, found this old thread.
I am in the same situation as Jordan. I need some info on what to have embossed on my blank dataplates on a 1943 C15A. Does anyone have pics of dataplates on a 43? or know what to fill in on the red ? ??? I have tried to contact different persons having a 1943 C15a but have had no luck so far getting any replies. Plate 1 "Vehicle Model" `? Plate 2 "Publications Plate" Drivers Handbook ? Maint Maual MB-C2 - is this correct? Spare Parts ? Plate 3 "Data Plate" Chassis Model ? Cab Model: 13 Chassis Serial: My own Engine Serial My own Order Number ? Date of MFG ? Will try to calculate...just need some 43 info to compare with. Thanks Svenn
