I came acoss this photo whilst re-reading one of my books about amphibious warfare. I shows part of the british mulberry harbour. Then I noticed the 6 wheeler vehicle at bottom right - any ideas? Could it be a surviving White-Ruxtall or White EXBX Tank Transporter.
I also wonder what the crane is on the oposite side of the pierhead.

Good call Noel

but I would put my money on it being a Mack EXBX on account of the rather fuller front wing the White-Ruxtall had a very simple single curve wing, the truck in your picture I think has a compound curve.

Both ex French contract trucks diverted to the British on the Fall of France, such a shame virtually none of these mega rare trucks made it into preservation.

Thanks for your input Pete. I have wondered if these former tank transporters were still in use in 1944. Serveral books refer to them being used as heavy cargo trucks after they were no longer needed to transport tanks. I presume they were pretty much worn out after use in the Middle East and have not seen any reference to there use in NW Europe. Anyone else have any information on them?
