Mk II* Carriers for North Africa
In Bill Gregg's Profile Series, he has a pair of photos of a prototype MkII* built for a British Contract to be used in North Africa. It was fitted with bows for a canvas cover and full sand skirts.
While looking through photos from Ford of Canada, I realized there were a couple which were probably taken of this vehicle. The first shows round steel posts mounted on the top of the side armour and the second one shows the bottom of bows bolted onto these posts. David |

Michael.
Your third photo from the rear of the carrier is interesting. It shows the rear supports of the tubular framework for the cover mounted with the outboard bolts for the two Bren Tripod brackets on the rear armour plate. Several of the Ford photos I have show the two Bren Tripod brackets with these bolts missing and the brackets hanging lose on the back of the carrier. It looked sloppy, but if they were constantly assembling and disassembling the top assembly on this carrier at the factory, it was probably easier to leave those two bolts out whenever the top was removed. That particular cover was reproduced very very well by Martyn Tasker on his carrier. Unfortunately I have no images of it, but hopefully he will see this thread and post up himself.
