Ex RAAF M37 Crane
Can you help:
I'm seeking photographs showing this M37 recovery slewing crane as it looked whilst in service with either the RAAF or any other air force. I am told this M37 was used in Japan by the RAAF whilst stationed there during the Korean War. It was subsequently returned to Australia and ended up in this yard. The M37 was painted yellow whilst with the RAAF. The crane setup is quite large and solid for the size of the vehicle. The crane would slew 360 degrees and had extendable support legs to each side. The legs have been cut off. Would also like to know where the nomenclature plates are located on this vehicle and would there be any reference to the crane setup on these plates? Sorry that I do not have better photos at this stage. Any help would be appreciated. Last edited by Stuart Kirkham; 11-10-18 at 03:51. |

Photos
Searching on the AWM photo collection may turn up something, even in the background. I'm sure they have a few of the RAAF in post war Japan.
