Default The adventure begins

I just purchased a C15-A along with a truck bed full of parts that came off it years ago. A lot of the mechanical work has been done but the body was only disassembled. So far I have found a few pieces are missing and hope to find them reasonably close to home.
After a few hours browsing this site, I’m sure I will find most of the answers to the many questions I will have.

Welcome. You will find lots of information here.

Looks like you have a decent start. Your truck appears to have been a Wireless truck due to the square cutout in the cab wall.

You are correct about it being a wire-5. Was there a specific use for the square hole? I’m planning to reskin the back of the cab due to rust.

It was for a speaking tube from the box to the cab.

While sorting through the pile of parts I discovered the coolant overflow tank. It took a bit of searching to figure out what it actually was. I’m assuming there should be a tube in the hole on the bottom to allow it to vent without the coolant coming out. Is this tube replaceable and if so are they available?

Also, is there a place to find dimensions and material sizes for the solid side door curtains for this truck?

I have purchased the manual for the truck but trying to keep busy while awaiting its arrival in a couple of weeks.

Hello Ray, nice project you have there.

Re. the side curtains, have a look on Phil Waterman's website: http://canadianmilitarypattern.com/

I’ve begun the job of replacing the sheet metal and rotten angle iron on the cab roof and back wall. To simplify things a bit I had the holes cut on the waterjet at Metals Plus in Whitby. A much neater job than I could have accomplished by hand. Still figuring out the settings on the spot welder with my buddy in the picture.
