WW1 artifact
I am trying to identify whether this match box holder was made at a British rehab center or German prisoner of war camp. It belonged to my wifes great uncle during WW1. Does anyone know if the service number is Canadian or British? I do not know the exact date it was created.

hi norm
i checked the regimental number with the canadian database, and it doesn't work. i then looked up marlow c and there were a few hits, but all had different numbers. i'm not sure if there is a similar database for british soldiers of the first world war, but i'll see what i can find. cheers!! mike |

According to "Serial Numbers of the CEF" that number is 'unallotted'

hi norm
the british records show a medical card and the following information. Marlow, Charles army service corps regimental number t/364659 rank driver date 1914-1920 norm, it appears that he was enlisted with the B.E.F. not the C.E.F. hope this helps mike |

FWIW, my Grandfather's Regimental Number was 656303, following the same 6 digit numeric expression as Marlow's.
He was BEF, RFA.
