CGT chassis with full cab?
Further to the enigmatic Ford "F22", it turns out possibly more FATs with peculiar cab/body combinations existed. The F22 is an FGT chassis less winch with a full No.13 Cab.
In Wheels & Tracks no.9, p.33, Bart Vanderveen shows a Canadian Chevrolet which "looks like a C15A with 20-in. wheels or possibly a CGT and is described as a 'Chevrolet 3-ton 4x4, 101-in. wb, Compressor, Modified'. The body is unmistakably British." It is unknown who built it and how many were made. The photo shows one in post-war use with the Netherlands Army. The photo comes from the Netherlands Institute for Military History. I have added a picture of a regular CGT for comparison.

Do the Ex-Portees count?
The NZ Army made postwar bodies for conversion to GS, 6pdr tow, and 17Pdr tow vehicles.

The tag shown in Didier's post is mounted with screws, most body serial tags I've seen were riveted. (There shouldn't be a need to remove and re-attach a serial number tag.)
Also, it shows 5W1A as the body type which was a GS body meant for use on 158-160 inch wheelbase CMP and MCP trucks. The 5W1 was a CKD GS body of bolted construction, 147" long, with wheelhouses. The 5W1A variant was designed for airportability, with the floor having a transverse split ahead of the wheelhouses. The inside height of the side panels is listed as 30". None of these characteristics seem to match the body on Didier's truck so my guess is that at some time an available (but not correct) tag was attached to the body. |

I concur with Maurice, looks like a danish "troop carrier" conversion. If you look at the "flange" at the back of the cab.
Interesting to see that it has a square hatch and not the common Danish big round hole, but possibly it has not been fitted with .50 MG during its service.

The one on top of this page has the same style of rear body, though that one is fitted with a full Cab 13, rather than the CGT cab blanked off as one the two pictured here. Who has more information about these conversions? If anything, they give today's restorers a rebuilding option for many of the CGT's surviving without the Gun Tractor body.
