TL 13238 Strip-bearing clamp
Can someone please explain where it goes and what it does? The description in the parts book doesn't give much away. (not to me anyhow)

this flat post bearing strip for the rear antenna bracket did not acquire a CTL part number, unlike the front strip that can be found with TL/CTL 13239.
Bruce P., Jordan V. may have sufficient details to reproduce one. |

I have an original on my carrier and can measure it up if you need it.

Hi Michael and Ross. Thank you both. I have thecranked piece of steel with that part number, but I wondered what the broken piece that bolts to the top was?
Mine is the broken the same as in Michael's above photo.

I am confused.
Lynn, nothing in the image is broken or missing. Who said “narrative without images is boring”. |

With regards your picture. From your arrow tip, climb up to the top bolt. On the opposite side, held in place by the two top bolts you will see a thin strip of steel. What was it? What was its function?
I see the battery cable holes had grommets.

That thin metal curves at 90° and is part of the antenna rod holder. There is nothing broken.

The bar that the red arrow points to a few posts ago is actually the top of the angle iron that holds the armour panel on the top RH side of the engine cover to the rear plate. The bearing strip fastens to this with two CS head screws coming in the from the rear.

No, by the time the mk2 came into production, the no11 radio was replaced by the WS19. Those brackets were for the WS11 antennas.

1944 built Mk.1* carriers still came with 11 set bases and those aerial brackets. I guess a contract was a contract.

Well they did quit installing the Bren magazine loading tool by then, so it was not a totally non-responsive system.

Rob, I don't understand your post #8. The two bolts at the top are holding a thin piece of flat steel which has a broken edge. I wonder as to its purpose and what it looked like before being broken.

Not sure anything is broken, can you point it out?

Bruce.
In your last photo, at the top of the two bolts, the upper edge of the 90 degree flange that mounts the aerial bracket has a curved top left corner behind the hex nut. In the photo Lynn posted initially, it appears that same flange is square cut, not rounded...the sharp shadow resulting looks like something was snapped off. David |

The holders are also installed in the same location on the MK-I*/MK-II updated carriers. . |

Bruce your pictures have cleared things up. I have the aerial brackets and both have the front mounts. In Michael's picture it sort of looks like the rear mount is clo9se to the engine cover, like the front one. Now I see what the TL13238 does. It allows the aerial rods hang out to the rear over the rear upper plate, or if you like, horizontal rather than parallel to the engine cover top. Thank you gentlemen for seeing this through.
