Default CMP differentials

Can any one tell me how to tell the difference between a Chev diff and a Ford diff ? . I have a extra diff and not sure which it is , i kinda remember being told by my father that it was a Chev but can't be sure. If it turns out to be a Chev then it will be for sale as i have 2 Fords.

Thanks

Eric

Ford diff housings split in half by a series of bolts over the ring gear into a left right type split. On a chev, the diff pot comes out and the housing is a cast assembly.
The early Fords used chev diffs. My first CMP Ford 15cwt, serial 10616, had the chev diffs.

Thanks for the information Rob . It seems that my memory isn't what i thought it was . Going by what you say of the Ford diff is bolted together it seems that i have a spare diff for my cmp's.

thanks so much

Eric
