CMP seat base differences
Hi all.
Ive been going through my various seats and Ive come across a number of differences between the basic design. Im wondering if there is any input into the difference applications for them. Here is the 4 different ones Ive got. 01.jpg This one has a riser welded to the front and rear to lift the chair up. It looks to use the original clamping parts to secure the seat base to the floor. 02.jpg 03.jpg 04.jpg

These ones all just have a slight difference in the holes drilled into the them.

This is a Ford seatbase, the other one is Chevrolet.

I too have noticed the 2 different styles of seat support. My Chev and Ford have a mixture. I am wondering if it is a driver versus co- driver variation rather than a Ford versus Chev variation. What would be the motivation to slightly raise the seat with the addition of a riser? .... Brian

Hi Brian
Raising the seats seemed to have been more popular with the cab 11/12 using various wooden spacer depth. Remember that the typical WW 2 Canadian soldier was somewhat smaller and shorter..... so at both end of the spectrum you would have shorter drivers who could benefit from a booster seat and have been informed by an old artillery guy with experience on the CGT that it was common to remove the seat cushion and replace it with a folded woolen blanket for the tall guys. On some of the cab 11/12 that I have I have observed different thickness of wooden spacers thickness and usually only on the passenger side. From experience I can tell you that being 6'2" a riser would elevate my legs enough that I could not use the clutch pedal, my thigh hitting the bottom of the steering wheel.....also I would be staring at the windchill wiper motor a lot. I hope the designer of the cab11/12 is still in Purgatory........ Cheers
