Default Centuirion Mk3 Turret...weight?

So we are going to lift the Centurion turret to refurbish the fighting compartment. Of course the question is how heavy is this damn thing? We will remove the gun and mantlet prior to, but it is definitely outside the capacity of our forklift and everyone with a crane wants to know how much it weighs, lots of info out there and in the books on the weight of the tank, but I haven't found anything that has revealed the weight of the turret alone, any RCEME out there who might have an inkling?

Cent III complete turret weighs 28000 lb.

Complete gun is 2850 lb

Mantlet and cradle is 2500 lb

Cupola is 1088 lb

So a bare turret without all that comes out at 21562 lb.

Wow, the turret is deceivingly heavy.

I may need to move a Sherman turret this summer. It is one of the late 76mm turrets. Any ballpark of the weight to expect on those?

A completely stripped 75mm Sherman turret weighs about 6100 lbs, I would imagine a 76mm is nearer 7500 plus any parts still on it but I don't have any figures to back that up! ISTR reading somewhere a complete one is about 6 tons.

Yes, the turret is fairly stripped, with the matlet and gun sitting separate. Those numbers don't sound too bad. Thanks.

I can't really claim any great knowledge, I do have an extensive technical library though!
