On the road again!
The ravages of an Ontario winter are past us.
Time to do some minor running repairs and get rolling... Which is exactly what I did today with the '44 Chev C15-A. Not too much coaxing, after being dormant for about 5 months, the 216 fired up...albeit with a bit of juice down the venturi. Windows opened up, I savoured the spring time air as it blasted through at 40 mph. Now to remove the smashed bugs from my teeth, they having been bared in a great big shit eating grin!

Interestingly enough, I have just bought a new aluminum ladder for household purposes.
It will come in handy in order to mount you into the co-driver's seat in the cab. (Oops, should I have used the phrase "mount you"?)

Ottawa?
Jon,
Glad to hear that your truck is back on the road. Will you be leaving this weekend to make the drive to Ottawa for the VE Day events? Stewart |

going to Goderich instead
Just a minute Stewart Jon in an earlier posting suggested he might bring the truck down for the 14th in Goderich, so ask Jon about that parade as well.
Jon now the warm weather has arrived has your maintenance/ repair progam for the truck gotten started? |

Stewart and Gordon:
Since I have no means of transporting the vehicle that far, Ottawa, unfortunately, would have been off the radar anyway. I'm trying to arrange float service from here to Goderich, though. I don't think I should risk driving it that far at 40 mph on major roads. (Plus my back could act up, jostling around for 3 hours, one way.) Maintenance is almost complete...a couple of gaskets to replace which was to be done this week-end, but the forecast calls for heavy rain mixed with snow!!! PS Stewart: I just caught what I think was a subtle jest about leaving now in order to get to Ottawa on time.

Come on Jon give it a go it takes us 6 hours to drive to Corowa. Then we took the long way home doing 800 kms in 5 days through the mountains. Has Matt rang you back yet? as we are sure he would love to go along for the ride again. With anzac Day coming up tomorrow the old girls have all been washed ready for the parade in town. Max |

HUP rolling
Hey Jon, I just finished putting the HUP back together yesterday and she runs and drives real nice. New U joints, fluids, wiring fix-up, master cylinder rebuild and brakes setup etc etc.
We do this all for fun, right? Anyhow, had her sitting outside the shop and a fellow representing the 12 Field Regt association stops in and gives me an invite to show up at their annual meeting at the Guelph Legion. What luck, the legion is about 2 kms from my shop. Not so bad so I'm gonna take the halftrack too!

I left a message at Matt's place at the number you gave me. Nothing heard yet. Chris: If you got the heavy rain and mixed wet snow in Rockwood like we got here this week-end, you'd better have the Arctic kit and HD snow chains fitted!

Jon, left the beast outside for about an hour yesterday to run for awhile, while I cleaned up a bit in the shop.
Came out to bring her back in and it was a sopping wet mess, considering I had the side curtains off and the rain was driving at gale force. No need for a wash, though. No snow until early this morning. Did you order it? BTW, was considering a brief tour, but thought about the crappy wipers, lack of curtains and hard, cold runflat tires on slick, wet pavement. Reconsidered it all and had a beer instead.
