Ebay ACCO
Great Find.
You could get this 6x6 ACCO RUST FREE or is that free rust? for over $500 http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Acco-Mk5-6x6-...QQcmdZViewItem If I had the $$ and the time, and the room, I would try to save that Wagga truck. It would make a great recovery vehicle. Sadly, I dont have a lot of either at the moment. (& where would I put it? Not on the street for the vandals.....) An F15A keeps me entertained.

G'day All, It will most likely stay as it is now, and go back to be worked to death by some cocky farmer, and yes it is a shame as I would love to restore one, but my name ain't Packer or something similar cheers Dennis

Careful
"and go back to be worked to death by some cocky farmer"
Hey Dennis A couple of my MLU "cocky farmer" mates have contacted me re. your comment and they were not happy. Farmers are one of the largest groups that actually save these old vehicles, just have a look at the number at Corowa every year. The only trucks that were ever worked to death were ones associated with the timber industry. Bob |

G'day All, After a hard day saving a heap of Land Rover parts from certain extinction, I still stand by what I said, I do know that a lot of cocky farmers do collect and save these vehicles but I also a damn lot of them just work them to death/run em into the ground which is a shame anyway nuff said cheers Dennis
PS All the CMP's and Matadors around this part of the world were all worked to death in the timber industry, I have heaps of pix but don't know how to post them. |

I can see Dennis' point of view, especialy when it comes to land rovers. We've seen a lot of significant vehicles destroyed by farmers, but also a lot kept in fantastic condition.
The gunnas are the bunch that I hate. They are gunna do it up one day, and won't sell anything to anybody. despite the fact that they are 75 and have 30 unrestored vehicles rusting in their padocks. Tires and canopies slowly rotting. Perhaps we need to steer clear of generalisations when it comes to any groups of people?

Dont Worry be Happy
Just focus on what you can safely restore.
If a truck or landy goes to the scrap so be it. If you didn't know about it, would you care? (If an axle falls in the smelter, does anybody hear?) I am sure we all would have loved to be standing in 1946 at the post war auctions, cashed up and ready to buy every vehicle we saw. Hmm what a great idea!!!!!!!! Do we do that with modern war vehicles? I know of no-one who ever did this here in Aust. No one did because they were busy trying to do other things. Some bought a few vehicles, but very few had the luxury of many trucks and equipment. Dont worry about what vehicles are destroyed; worry about what you can restore and show. It is always a good myth about ANY vehicle that has not been 'captured' for restoration, but is it better than your own vehicle on display and then chatting to others about that elusive find in a paddock? (Isn't that what we do here?) Farmers are practical people. They very much know that what they buy, they use. They have one luxury I dont. Space. Most struggle to pay the bills feed their family and get a decent car; A truck is bought for a purpose, not as a toy or a project its to pay the bills and help in the tasks. You see, if we all had farms we would all have a lot of stuff. Your real estate govens the hordeing ability. Hmm out to my meagre 2 car garage! Ian
