Default W&P Beltring 2006

Good Day

Anybody going to the War & Peace Show in Beltring this summer? I'll be there from Friday - Sunday.

Is there something like an "unofficial" MLU-Meeting or so? Any vehicle rides available? After staying with Max, I can drive everything : Tanks, motorbikes, trucks, jeeps, tractors, sheep...

cu there
Chris

To bad, the last "unofficial" MLU Beltring - meeting was in
2002.But no problem, you can meet in Beltring CMP guys
from all over the world, plus the "CMP" stall from LwD.

Since they got hugely greedy after that and charged both an exhibitor entry fee and the same again for a support car, something that a great number of previous attendees now will not pay.

One always wonders about the annual claim of "almost 4000 vehicles" when the programme has about 1500 and the 50 GBP late entry fee seems very effective against late-comers, the organiser said when asked.

MLU and the board always appears at Overlord though at Horndean on the late May bank holiday, this year 27th - 29th May; owing to the huge notice given we are hopeful the Oxford CMP Group may make an appearance, just as a reminder to the PTO&G from those parts.

I see you have captured the image of the usual suspects, the beer can is attached to you-know-who and I see myself with Barry C IIRC.

Default Overlord at Horndean

I can personally vouch for Richard's show. It's an excellent venue and I hope to attend again soon.

Default W & P

Hopefully all being well I'll be there and taking my MKII carrier for it's first time at the show.

lets try and forget the politics of the W and P
It's still the best show in the world.

Come on lets be there and enjoy!!!

Hi Barry,

I shall be there as always,
only missed one in all its history, was on a MV adventure the other end of the world, that won hands down that year...another story.

It is still bigger than any other show known, forgeting any advertised figures. You will meet enthusiasts from all corners there because they know it is the place to go. Yes some of you have to pay,... luckily, I have never, but would if I had to because over 8 days that we go there it evens out to a cheap holiday. I have four friends from "down under" coming this year, they will be gobsmacked by it all.......like kids in a toy shop

Hallo Richard,

Sorry for my late response, the guy on the picture in Beltring 2002
is not Barry Churcher but my other Canadian friend Brian Gough.
The pictures here below are taken in Normandy 2004.

Mvg. Dirk Leegwater

Default Packing days

Packing days for Beltring 2006. Always difficult to make a choise
between the several CMP "treasures", to make the stall complete.
After opening an orginal wooden CMP box filled with Canadian parts
are they normaly packed in special paper but what a surprise, this time
in WW II News Paper pieces.
The picture shows a part of the Toronto Daily Star from Friday, February 12, 1943.

Mvg. Dirk

(tot ziens in Beltring)

Dirk,

While you are packing parts for Beltring, do you have one of those British Butler blackout headlamps? They were on your website at one time.

Also, a customer of mine asked if you could also bring a CMP electric petrol pump for a Ford FGT, please.

Look forward to seeing you.

Richard

At the last minute, I did managed to free up enough time to make it to Beltring this year! I'll be arriving Wednesday afternoon, and I'll be leaving Sunday afternoon.

I'll be riding my unrestored pre-WW2 Dutch Army bike and I'll be staying in a "Canadian Brown" two-man tent near a Ford CMP 4x4 15-cwt and a Humber Armoured Car.

See you there!

Hanno

Yes, that's why I judged it as Runner Up in the "Best Canadian" class! Pictured below is Clinton Long, proud owner of this F8 (source).

First Prize went to the F15A of Maurice Donckers.

Regards,
Hanno
