M8 Greyhound Brake Cylinders
Just a question regarding wheel cylinders for the M8 Greyhound, does anyone know of a source in Canada? What other vehicles would use the same Cylinders? I've been tasked with repairing the brakes on the M8 belonging to the Ontario Regiment Museum.

Have them sleeved
Hi Brian
If you have cylinder have them sleeved, it is a one and done approach. Find new cylinder is doable but they will go bad just as the original cylinders in a few years, as little as 3 years or maybe 10 years. I've sleeved all three of my trucks with sleeves they have now gone 20, 30, and 40 years without pitting of the cylinders. Now it is just replace the rubber parts and flush the system 10 years. Cheers Phil

The difference in longevity, no doubt, is due to the sleeves being made of stainless steel.

Or brass, depending on the company doing the work.

I always ask for stainless steel.

All brass
Hi
All my trucks were done with brass, just happens that's what the 1st truck was done with. It worked so why mess with success. Cheers Phil

Brian,
These guys have sleeved Ferret master cylinders for me. Price includes the full rebuild. http://www.johnstuartpowerbrake.com/ Very nice work but quite expensive. It's worth checking with Brian Asbury first. He's a great guy to deal with. Malcolm |
