Default Ram Tank Serial number location

Following on from all the RAM tank threads recently, how/where would the serial number of a RAM hull be stamped and is there any correlation between CT number and serial number ?
In the past I think someone told me the serial number was stamped somewhere at the back ?

Hi Carl,

The Ram tank Shop Number is stamped on the tube which runs across the hull front and which supports the tool boxes/mudguards. Sadly, this tube is often missing or severely corroded.

Once you have the Shop Number one can deduct the Census Number (or the other way round).

Another option is to look up the hull casting serial number. This is located on the underside of the upper hull casting, just above the left air cleaner. The hull casting serial could give you an approximation of the Shop and Census Numbers.

Hope this helps,
Hanno

Also, if you can send me some pictures, I can pinpoint manufacturing changes and thus narrow down the Shop Number / Census Number bracket.

As Hanno has explained, the number is stamped into the circular bar found at the front of the Ram.
There is a co-relation between the Shop Number (on the bar) and the WD "CT" number, but not with the TKC number. This was important as it provided RCEME with data as to the modification inherent in any specific tank.
