Carrier ID?

Gentlemen,
Came across this photo and curious about the carrier. Is this a field mod or were some built this way. Is there a special model number this? Thank you.

Those are metal plates and were a kit that was provided so that the Universal Carrier could wade through 6 feet of water. As you see in this photograph, the kits were used during the Normandy Invasion.
