Default Speedo Cables

Just wondering if anyone has a source of speedometer cables for CMP's available in North America ?? If not we can puchase the materials to make them, but would want to know how many needed them before we order the sheathing and inner cable etc... We have figured a rough cost of $65.00 cdn per cable. ANyone interested or have found a replacement cable that is available off the shelf ??

Thanks

Jeff

Default Have you tried ...

... the usual old truck restoration guys?

I see that The Filling Station ( Lebanon, Oregon) has 65', 70", and 75" speedo cables listed for all Chevy car/truck applications from 1937 to 1970 ( same part number ) for $16.50 to $37.50.

Jim Carter Classic (Chev) Truck parts has 72" metal wrapped cables for $27.50, and the black vinyl 81" version for $22.00.

Dennis Carpenter has them for even less for Fords.

My Chev CMP speedo cable is metal wrapped, and seems to be in good shape.

I found all of this out as I was poking around on the world wide web looking for a loooooong speedo cable for the T-16 Carrier . I suspect that the guts are all the same, and the ends won't be that different. Do you need to invest in a special tool to crimp on the cable ends? Does anybody have both a jeep and a CMP to see if the cables have any similar bits?

Tried all those usual sources, all too short. Ours looked good but we have determined it is not usable. Its not a problem buying all the items to make anew one, but we have to buy a large quantity, thus the question above. The one we removed from our C15A is 96" long .

HI Jeff

Yes please count me in on this if we can't find any ready made ones.

If I can get the ends and a saft would you be able to make up one for my UC also?

Default speedo cables

Hi Jeff,

In the old Nordian stock there are for CMP's all kind of speedo cables.
So maybe try Dirk first (not North America though), they will be a lot cheaper then 65 bucks for sure!!!

Cheers

Jeff,

Will you be getting parts to make the whole speedometer cable assembly? [Drive cable, covering and end couplings.]

I didn't get one with my latest Carrier and would ask you to set aside 15' worth for me. I have hooked up a jeep speedo to the CMP truck cable and it fits - I will get a better measurement as soon as I can.

When did you need the money? When are you going to make the cables?
