We needed some for a 5SW (Triumph) and after some head scratching and interwebnet searches, we found shelf-feet of the stuff in aerosol cans at the local motor factors.

Having done what it said on the can, which IIRC, was two thin coats followed by a really heavy one, it dried to a perfect crackle finish.

Problem being that you may not have the stuff down there and it seemed to be in original Ford colours, that is, black, black, black and black.

However, Plasti-kote do a brown. . . . . . . . . .

Default Paint

Brad ,

The local Auto parts shop here has it in aerosol cans . But only one colour , Black . VHT brand .

You may try instrument repair shops , as they may use it ?

I have used it on No. 11 set front panels and other radios like 109 and 101 , all these sets have Black panels, it worked OK . I dried the parts in the kitchen oven to make them " set " .

I've never seen Brown crinkle parts on a 19 set . The only crinkle finish Iv'e seen on 19 sets were some U.S. made cases , brands like RCA and Philco , these were olive green.

All the sets I've ever seen/owned over the years, various brands -British, Canadian, Australian , have plain paint finish on all the parts. But, its possible they painted some bits in Brown crinkle , because so many 19 sets were built , ubiquitous they are .

Default ws19 paint

There are several finishes for the 19 set. I have sets with green crinkle, green smooth, brown crinkle and brown smooth. The browns were for most part marked with C/|\.

This also went for the power supply case, variometer and spare valves/parts boxes.

All of mine (9) were made in Canada by the 3 manufacturers.

Default Faux wrinkles

Hi Brad:

Try using the black wrinkle paint and then top coat it with the correct shade of brown.

Another option would be to take advantage of the dislike lacquers and enamels have for each other. Paint the part with a coat of brown enamel and then use the same shade of lacquer on top of it... instant wrinkles!

No, Ma, I wasn't referring to you with the line about instant wrinkles!

Default Wrinkle Finish

I agree with Gunner, most auto shops do a wrinkle finish paint in black. It was very popular with Chryslers in the 70's as well as Fords. Paint it black and then top coat with the correct colour finish.

For black crinkle finish , have a look at a Jeep or Dodge voltage regulator cover.
