Default Temperature Gauge

The Temperature Gauge on my Canadian Mk11* Carrier reads maximum when the ignition is switched off, and then goes back to the begining when switched on.

It then gradually rises when the engine is running, but I did not have it running long enough to check the accuracy.

Is this correct or is there a short somewhere?

Default Re. Temperature Gauge

Hi Neil
All Oz and Kiwi Carriers utilise the Ford, King Seeley, temperature gauge and they read maximum until powered up, so your gauge is operating the same as ours. Ours is the same gauge as in the Ford Blitz until they went to the round gauges sometime in 1943.
