Default Where do you live?

I recently sent a few bits of 19 set stuff to a chap in Australia. As a thank you he sent me a lovely calender with Aussie birds. (the feathered kind). In the center of the calender is a map of Australia and as I looked it over I was wondering where all you Aussie types lived. Then that got me thinking about everyone else. I know where Hanno and Dirk live in Holland but none of the other Dutch guys. This applies to England, etc. etc. Is there some way we can do this on the forum? I guess maps from the countries of the contributors would take up too much space. Just curious and with nothing to do while I wait for Janet to make lunch.

Default Mapquest Links?

Perhaps we could all simply post our towns/countries of residence, with Mapquest links to same. An example:

I live in London, Ontario, Canada, in the northwest corner of the city. The Mapquest link is here:

http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp...submit=Get+Map

You can zoom out or zoom in for a farther or closer look at the area.

The Mapquest details on Australia and I notice on the http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp...&addtohistory= some of the place names are the obscure ones, but Warrandyte is quite close to Eltham where I live.

I notice they're not too careful with spelling place names either; "Croyden" should be spelled with an o not e.

Here's a Mapquest link to where I live. My farmyard is under the P in Plato. As you can see there's nothing here except acres and acres of acres.

They're not too cute with a decent map scale size for Oz either, medium and like it.

Mapquest is not giving me a good result, so try http://www.lpi.nsw.gov.au/airviewdb/...sion_id=553074 which will show a map, and click on the pink haze of Lithgow city then the "Display Photo" button for a lovely aerial view of home. My house is the one with the brown roof 163rd from the bottom left in an anti-clockwise direction.

Nepean - a bedroom community to Ottawa.
Ottawa - a government town where everyone sleeps while at the office.
Question - why do we need a bedroom community then?

You don't need a map reference for Adelaide. Just look for the centre of the world on any atlas.

Default Winnipeg, Manitoba (Mb)

Winnipeg is easy to find on maps as it's the Province's Capitol City

I'm a new kid in town since end of March... from BC. I was born/raised a little up the NE TIP of the big lake on the East side/right side ... it's rural fishing-farming community ... mostly grain farming.

Interesting tid bit ... while driving out to"back home lake area" we passed a field with a herd of BUFFALO!!!!INCREDIBLE that these creatures aren't instinct after all the fur trading days slaughters!

I'll be back to reinsert the proper link in a bit... I think what might be happning is that when we "zoom in or out from the main image and save the link AFTER zooming" that those "zoomed" links bring different areas up???

OK ... here is a link for Winnipeg, Mb.
http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp...submit=Get+Map
I live roughly above and to the left of the "W" in Winnipeg. To see where Winnipeg is in Mb... search for Province "Mb" only and you can zoom zoom zoom and you'll see Winnipeg located below the lowest tip of the big lake on the right.

Default the best place on earth...

is in the end of the road in the center of the map....
And then just zoom out to see the rest of the universe turning around my place.....

Perhaps this one works...http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.c....x=7&left.y=12

Also take a look at this pages http://www.kvinnherad.kommune.no/Guide/indexeng.htm
