Champ Camp Tasmania 2011
Annual Champ Camp is being held in Tasmania this year, so on Wednesday next, Champs (and a Humber) from Victoria and NSW, with drivers from the UK, Hawaii as well as more local, will be converging at Port Melbourne for the Ferry ride.
Based in the Swansea area on the West Coast for most of the time, then Sheffield and back to the boat. I know our Tassy contingent here on MLU is only small, but keep an eye out for us. Now its back to the logistics of packing for four with camping gear, it is possible apparantly... Rich.

Good Luck
and God Speed Richard. Plenty of photo's and updates if you're able. Tassie should be brilliant at this time of year.
Just remember to wind your watch back 50 years....

We're Back
Another Champ Camp successfully completed.
15 Champs, 1 Humber FV1601, 1 Land Rover 101 took part, and as one can imagine with this amount of British Engineering covering these sort of distances (we did 1200 miles in 10 days in ours) the list of mechanical faults would be to big to list, but I will do my best: one flat tyre, one stuffed battery, two loose wheels. Might I add I am not the only Champ owner that was impressed (shall we say Surprised?) by the brevity of the list. Along the way we had a good look at an M151 Mutt, did some road miles in a Sabre, drove a Steam Traction Engine, found the first dam that the Tasmanians failed to finish (circa 1845), watched wombats gambol, got tangled up in the Targa Rally, and feasted at every Local Bakery we passed by. Rich.

And just a couple more.
Next year, Champ Camp will be held at Seymour, looking forward to it already.

Hi Rich,
Got a date for next years Champ Camp? That's an unusual back on the Humber, but I see he has the elusive snorkel. Wanted 1 Snorkel for Humber FV1601. regards Rick.

Hi Rick,
That Humber was a real head turner, the first time I have seen or heard one on the road, (Other than being in the drivers seat) found myself wanting one all over again. Back is a purpose built tray and canopy, a little longer than the original Ute/Pick up body. There where 5 Humber owners in attendance, this maybe an Australian record of Humberites in one location. Snorkel did set it off nicely. Champ Camp is generally held before Easter. Richard
