Default Somewhat excellent

Having been unable to attend again for various reasons since 1998 I would like to take this opportunity to thank KVE and all those involved in making Corowa 2012 happen (despite the weather)

I spent the entire time catching up with old friends, meeting fellow MLUers in person and making new contacts.

I also want to thank all those who welcomed me back 'into the fold' so to speak.

I will definately be attending next year and beyond. Afterall it's only about 6000km round trip so no excuse will be offered and I will bring one of my military vehicles next time.

Cheers

Phill

Default Corowa 2012

Wow still can't believe it's all over, we had a busy 2 and a bit weeks to get the blitz to resemble a truck, I new it was going to be a struggle but it was worth it couldn't have made it with out the generous help from Euan McDonald who kindly loaned some bits to help finish it off. I was an adventure from the time we left home till the time we returned home. Thanks to all the KVE and volunteer personnel to make this event happen at times no doubt trying, both dad and I couldn't be made more welcome, and to receive the encouragement award was fantastic. Keith there's a set of keys here for it when ever you want to go for a spin

At Corowa people were given an opportunity to nominate a theme for 2016. The final decision was Year of the Chrysler 2 (Dodge). Hopefully Keith Webb will be able to do a DVD on this event as he was unable to make it in 2004 when we had the first Year of the Chrysler (Dodge).

To give people plenty of notice the themes for the following years are:
2013 - Year of the Trailed Equipment and Year of the Armoured Vehicle
2014 - Year of WW1 and Year of the Ford
2015 - Year of the Emergency Vehicle and Year of General Motors
2016 - Year of the Chrysler 2 (Dodge)

It is nice to hear the positive comments and Richard, our KVE editor will be including these in our next KVE newsletter.

There were two of the 6X6 Internationals, nicknamed "MkV", the one listed as a MkV was actually an F2 tipper.

As for the Austin Champs there were only three in the marshalling area, but was a little surprised sitting in tail end Charlie's spare seat that another Champ was in the tail back behind us as we entered the showgrounds.

Robert

Isn't the truck a QL (or QLD) Bedford?

My guess is a QLD Bedford and I don't mean Queensland. Where is Richard when you need him!

Did anyone take some good photos of John Belfields Kenworth Wrecker?
A good friend is restoring one and is dirty I didn't take any photos of it.

Cheers

Hi Jeff,
I am still here in NSW. Definitly a QL, but only the GS Cargo was a QLD, cannot remember what Tony's was originally, I did help him for about 5 days back in 2000 when he was rebuilding it.

Have sent you a PM on another matter.

regards, Richard

Does anyone have any interesting stories about Corowa such as getting to the event, getting home from the event, purchases made at the swap meet, things they observed etc. I have started doing a report and like to include stories shared by participants. Hopefully Jeff will give me a report on the mtorcycle trip from Qld. The boys made it into the Wangaratta Chronicle on Monday after our visit to Pentarch.

Read all about it in the next KVE Newsletter, due out in early June, along with other stories of this year's participants journies to and from Corowa.

This morning I received an email from David King from Wallerawang. He drove his Studebaker to Corowa and after filling up on Sunday morning had an impromptu 2 night stay in Wagga thanks to a load of dirty/ water logged fuel (and several other cascading issues as a result).

Little bit of a shame in my eyes as 2016 would have been centenary of the tank, being 100 years since their first battle in the Somme in 1916.
Oh well I do like Dodge Weapon carriers (please dont hurt me chrysler owners LOL)
