Hanno,

These vehicles were the collection belonging to Mal Mackay of Newcastle, NSW, who sadly passed away recently.

Mal was a well known participant at Corowa. I first met him in 1995, on Back To The Track and subsequently on my other visits.

I read the family since decided not to sell the vehicles individually, but rather they are now going to be auctioned.
I "believe" I would have chosen an auctioneer with a little more subject matter expertise...

As well as the vehicles already mentioned, there is a sale of workshop equipment and vehicles spares that belonged to Mal. The information has been passed on to me by a friend in Aus. The auction for these items (not the vehicles) is on 2nd Sept, run by Slattery Auctions, sale no. 2164, held at General Goods, Munibung Road, Cardiff, NSW. Contact Slattery for a catalogue via email. There are a number of lots of Blitz / CMP parts, also Studebaker, Jeep, etc.

Hi Board,

Typical, just when you fork out a small fortune, what turns up?
My favorite all time military vehicle (DUKW)

Wow I sure like the one thats up for auction, but i'm a little confused about the auctions bidding format. It says to place your maximum bid (the price you are willing to pay), now if I was to place a low bid for example $2000.00 would that mean I could not increase this amount if another higher bid is placed?

Anyone care to estimate what sort of money this would be worth realisticly, keeping in mind that an original dukw anchor or was that a hand bildge pump persumably sold for $3000.00 US

I would morgage the house, sell all my cmp's to own one in this condition.

Cheers,

Brent Delaney.

G'day Bob!
I happen to know the guy Mal bought the DUKW from here in Queensland. He sold it to him for $65.000.00. So you might want to re-think your valuation!

Default Auction results

The auction closed on Friday.

The DUKW sold at Aus$65,000, which is around UK£29,000 to £30,000.

The GPA made a staggering Aus$90,101. That would be around £41,000 in UK
