Hi Mark

Great info. You have the source listed as an "appendix" to the war diaries. Did most regimental wardiaries have such a thing. If so it will give me a head star in going through the RHLI ones. Im forever hopefull of finding the complete # for a Jeep. I know the last 3 digits of 2 of the jeeps. #007 and 008.

Hi Jordan;

Unfortunately no, it as been my experience that the contents of war diaries vary greatly from unit to unit. Some unit’s monthly war diaries are filled with details and have appendixes attached which are filled with even more details, while others only basically record the postings in and out of officers, the weather, entertainments and unit/bde/etc. sports, and have no appendixes. As to the details contained in a particular regiment’s war diary, it’s a hit and miss affair, some are excellent sources for research, while others are not.

Cheers
