Default offical crew drill?

Hello all;

I've attempted to search the previous posts but came up with a big goose egg on this topic. Basically, I'm trying to find out of the British had a codified drill for the carrier crew based on job responsibilities. I've seen it published for U.S. tank crews where they count off, then mount the vehicle when ordered. In fact, I've seen cool movie footage of Polish tankers probably from the 10th Mounted Rifles doing the drill with their Cromwells. Is anybody aware of such a thing for carriers? If not, I'm going to make one up that looks plausible but I'd rather base it on the real thing.

Thanks for your thoughts,

Chris

My understanding is that those were called battle drills, and the British loved them. I believe the manual you want is called "the carrier platoon in the infantry battalion" and it has the drills telling you exactly where the driver places his hand, which leg goes over where, in order to mount or dismount the carrier.

It is one of those small training pamphlets maybe 40 pages thick. I have one on the bookshelf beside me, but it is small enough that it does not readily jump out.

Default Arther Askey

Try and get hold of a film called
'King Arther was a gentleman", starring Arther Askey.

There is a big section on Arther learning to drive a carrier.

This film is a must for any carrier owner…..

Enjoy

Chris,

Here are a couple of images of the training manual that you will want to find. Originals appear fairly regularly (every month or two) on ebay.

Thanks for the informative responses. Believe it or not, I do have an earlier version of that manual kicking around somewhere. I believe mine might be dated 1940. I actually read it from cover to cover when I first got it back in 1999. Of course at the time I owned a jeep and wouldn't have thought to remember details this minute.
I seem to remember generalities these days. Well, if I can even remember those.
My impression is that my training pamphlet covered things like, how many carriers were deployed per battalion and stuff like that. I look forward to re-reading and re-forgetting everything one month later.

Thanks again,

Chris
