Default RAF No. 3 Flight, No. 3 Squadron Sep. 1942

Hello everyone, first post. Merry Christmas.

I thought I would post this photo (in two parts) due to the number of airmen in it, hoping that someone will come along and see someone they knew.

My father enlisted in the Canadian Army in early September 1939. Lanark & Renfrew Regiment, then The Royal Montreal Regiment. Considering it too dangerous as a Dispatch Rider in blacked out England, he enlisted in the RAF then the RCAF.

Anyway, here it is. He's in the front row, third from the left. Hope someone else finds someone they know in it too. I had to scan it in two parts to get the top and bottom in.

Hmmm - I had to reduce the original photo size and the result is not so great. Maybe I'll post a link to the images...

Hi Geof,

A belated Very Merry Christmas to you too, as well as welcome to MLU. A great first post!

I hope someone "finds" a relative or knows some of the soldiers in that photograph. MLU is such a great place for this sometimes

The links work great Geof Very nice to see the names listed at the bottom of the photograph!

I also love the last photo you posted. Dapper looking men with the bow ties and roses in the lapels

BTW, do you want another "f" on the end of your Username? Can be done if required.

I have served under four officers who landed on Juno Beach on D-Day. I have never met finer men.

No thanks, Geoff. It cuts Geoffrey nicely in two.

By the way, my Dad named me after Geoffrey deHavilland, the test pilot who died flying the Swallow in 1947.
