Childhood memory of an abandoned Universal Carrier may be confirmed by Google earth
I live and grew up Northern Ontario Canada so as a younger boy we use to spend most of our time in the bush. At the age of around 16-17 I remember taking a trek in the woods with my buddies and coming across a small boxy tank looking thing with tracks. It was is a pit where we took a shortcut and we use to sit in it quite frequently not knowing or caring what it was.
Now 20 plus years have gone by and in the process of restoring a MK2 Universal Carrier I can’t stop thinking of that Carrier we smoked cigarettes in as a kid. Haha Just for fun I took a quick look on Google earth even though I wasn’t positive of the exact location and I think I might of found it. Still sitting there abandoned in a vacant pit. The pit is gated so obviously it belongs to someone but I think I might try to track down the owner of the pit and see if I can purchase it. I’ve longed moved away from the area so doing this will be an adventurous task. I’m not even 100% sure it’s even a Carrier I’m looking at. What do you guys think?

Proportion wise, it may even be a T16...
Wish I were closer..

There was one at the town gravel pit in Armstrong Ontario. I have not been out there in over 20 years so it may or may not be there anymore. We did take parts of it when we were mining the area for carrier stuff.

Ambition! Get going!
BTW, winter is sometimes considered a better season for recoveries because the ground is hard for sledges and for winching. Any thoughts what you'll use? A couple of the fellas here have dragged stuff out of worse spots.

Go big or go home, it's probably a Windsor.

Worth it but it will take time.
It’s definitely an adventure I’m willing to take. It’s 7 hours away from where I live now so it’s a hell of a trek just to confirm if it is what it is. I’d also need to make this trip to get the lot number and possibly get leads on the owner.
It’s crazy talk because I do not need another project but curiosity is killing me. It sits 600ft off a highway with a gravel road leading to it.
