They aren't ferret tires, they are 900x16 military tires. I am told 900x16US won't fit on 900x16 British rims.

You do have to make sure the tyre have the correct load / ply rating to carry the weight of a Ferret.

I put 9.00-16 NDT on my Ferret 17 years ago and it's still driving around on them. Have fun taking the original old tires off the rims.

9,00-16 NDT tire is rated at 3333 lbs each load capacity for a total of 13332 pounds. Heaviest ferret is just over 10,000 pounds combat weight. Most are around 8.000 lbs empty. Lots of room for safety on the NDT tires. As well, because they are about 75 pounds lighter, it will reduce the unsprung weight and make for more effective braking.
There are photos of Canadian ferrets with smooth tread commercial tires in the desert. Last edited by rob love; 18-11-15 at 08:59. |

I agree with others.
FYI Ferret tyres / tires have substantial thickness and frankly as long as you heed the circumference tolerance issue you will be fine with used tires. How many miles do you intend to do in a year? The UK is a good source for used ones, Bob Grundy is someone to make your friend as he is an excellent scavenger. Robin

Robin, Ferret tyres would have substantial thickness because......they are runflats? (originally)
