Default Camouflage Painting in North Africa

Looking for water bowser pics, I stumbled across this short video which folks might like to see. Check out the 11 cab Fords, about 3 minutes in.

Somewhere that had a railway line and was well away from the front line.

Possibly a port of discharge, like Alexandria, or Port Said?

BOW I assume means Base Ordnance Workshop, so RAOC until mid 1942.

Great vid: some very interesting vehicles.

The description (just below the video) says Abbassia Camp, Egypt.

Default Vehicles

I spotted a pre war CS8 Morris with the plain civilian type bumber bar . The armoured cars have undergone a complete chassis stripdown . I agree the location is nowhere near the shooting war , they all look well dressed and orderly. The reg numbers on the vehicles are very neat and tidy , applied with some care, just like us restorers do today .

Default Abbassia

Well spotted!

Abbassia is a suburb of Cairo.

Well known to Australians in the First World War, as it was the location of an Australian hospital. Also very close to the rail network that runs between Suez-Cairo-Alexandria, which was used for transporting hospital patients between those locations in addition to all the military gear being ferried around the place.

Sensible location for an ordnance workshop hub.
