Default CMP's A Query

As a newbie to the MLU sight I have avidly read a number of the threads set up by members.
I am interested in buying one of the many CMP variant vehicles (possibly a Gun Tractor) but up until now have only done British vehicle restorations. As a result of this I would like to read up on the subject before doing any serious looking. Can anybody recommend any books (other than manuals) I should get before venturing into the world of CMP's.

Default New CMP fan

As a learner to the CMP cause myself, I found the book Blueprint for Victory by William Gregg to be useful (out of print I believe but don't know how difficult to find a copy of now). Also the bible Historic Military Vehicles Directory by the late Bart Vanderveen, or his earlier works the Observers Fighting Vehicles Directory WW2. But I'm sure the professors of this realm will be waving their thesi sses and instructing you of the appropriate literature to study.

Good luck and don't forget to look under For Sale in this forum!!!!!!!!!

Default WHEELS & TRACKS

Buy back copies of WHEELS & TRACKS magazines from Battle of Britain Prints in London. Some have excellent CMP articles.

Richard,

Welcome!

As for reading up: this forum, Bill Gregg's books and Bart Vanderveen's articles in in Wheels & Tracks magazine are a must-read.

The For Sale Or Trade section contains references to at least two gun tractors, one in France and one in Norway.

Good luck and let us know what you end up with!

Regards,
Hanno

Default Thanks

Thanks to all for their advice on where to obtain info . I have emailed the 2 links for the Gun tractors on the site and am awaiting replies. I am now working my way through my stash of Wheels & Tracks magazines for further info.

Cheers
Richard Hughes.

Hello Richard.
I have posted a reply to your mail here at "Private Messages" due to some computerproblems.
