Default Swimming CMPs

Came across these great pictures of various CMPs being wading tested prior to Normandy. Taken in February 1944 according to some of the photograph backs.

Now here's an idea for one of my 3 tonners!

Default Love it

Particularly the ambulance with the Plimsole line depth markings...

How to get rust into every nook and cranny...

The top shot reminds me of the entrance to Southampton Water, with Calshot in the background, to the right off shot...that was RAF Hythe, a Sunderland base. The middle one certainly looks like the sea just off Haslar Hospital, Gosport with HMS Dolphin, the Submarine base, just off to the right. This would be called Stokes Bay then, and there are beaches that extend out some way.
