Default ‘Lest We Forget”..

Hi All

Just a quick reminder to take a few minutes and remember all our Australian Diggers currently serving overseas and those who have come and gone before them. We owe them more than we will ever know. ‘Lest We Forget”...

Cheers

Tony

Let us also not forget that this is the anniversary of the Battle of Kapyong, the biggest battle fought by Australians since WW2, where 3RAR and the Canadians of 2PPCLI, supported by the NZ 25Pdrs of 16Bde RNZA fought an intense battle over 2 1/2 days where they were outnumbered 6:1, cut off, overrun and written off as annihilated, yet held the line and prevented a rout of the UN defences of Seoul.

Despite Australian losses of 32 KIA, Canadians 10 KIA and NZ 2 KIA (Forward observers in the 3RAR position), the communist forces lost over a third of their force and the Chinese Spring Offensive was broken, with the Chinese never able to venture that far south again during the war.

We remember not just the Aussies and Kiwis on Anzac Day, but all our Commonwealth Brothers-in-Arms .

Default Commonwealth troops

Just happened to see this head stone when on a tour is 2009. Being my family surname I took a picture. Stopped and took a moment with a Digger.

Just back from Batlow's Dawn Service, over eighty at the service and sixty stayed for the breakfast. Parade is at 15:00 and my blitz will be there for the first time.

Default Yeo in the 1st AIF

Thank you, Gordon, that was a nice touch.

You may be interested to learn that there were 23 personnel with the surname Yeo who served with the AIF during the Great War. Nine paid the ultimate price.
