Default 1944 Indian Chief military Motorcycle

My friend was showing me his Indian Chief motorcycle It is a 1944 341 ? with 1500 miles on it .He told me that it was used to tow air planes on the tarmac in India The license plate says " USJ " and below "7439 ".He has the cloth cap the the rider used when he drove it .It has the dry air filter and the two big tail lights on back fender .He would like to know what the license place information tels us

Do you have a photo and a serial number.

If it's a 1940 American military bike would have an engine case number starting with CDO. 1941 would be CDA, 1942 = CDB

Default Licence plate

George,

How about a photo of the plate and the bike? From what you described we don't know if its a military plate or a civilian one and what country potentially issued it. Is the serial number 3441....?


Must have been towing some pretty small aircraft with about 25hp there were better choices around.

I'll get a picture of it and get the owner to tell you about it .The plate would be army as it only worked at the airport .The owner teaches the Harley Mechanic Cource here in Alberta
