Default 2 Ford FGT Cab12's

Hello, here is an update on my 1941 Ford FGT Cab 12 project:

I was fortunate enough to pick up a 1941 Ford FGT from Stew Robertson recently. Here are some pictures of it.

Default Goes with my other Ford 1941 Cab 12 FGT

I've posted these before but my first Cab12 FGT is in rougher shape. It will be nice to work on these two, side by side. Can anyone tell me if the heater is original to the FGT or an add on?
Cheers, Richard

Default Congratulations

Richard,

I'm glad to see that your visit with Stewart worked out so well. That's quite a motor pool that you've got.

Photo 2 in this post is of a cab 11 front and chassis while the second vehicle you picked up is a cab 12.

Default FGT Cab11 vs Cab12

Cliff,

Thank you for pointing that out. The chassis of the 2nd FGT came from a property north of Huntsville. The cab for the 2nd FGT came from a separate property east of Huntsville. Looking in the parts box for that chassis, I did see inspection panel style hood which would confirm the Cab11. Other than the inspection style panel hood, was there any other differences between the Cab11 and Cab12 style front ends to the cabs?

cab 11 had a one piece grill mesh while the cab 12 had a two piece grill plus a bonnet that opened up. I believe the top panel on the cab 11 front is different as well due to just having a flat panel to access the engine.

The reddish colour cab 11 front end looks good and will fit on either body.
The cab 12 windshield swings open and the cab 11 doesn't.

Smile 11 vs 12

Also, the engine covers bolt into place in a #11 cab, and hang on "keyhole" slots in the #12.

The bolt on covers stayed for a while in the early cab 12's too

Would love to have the Cab 11 over here for parts for Australian Grandfather FGT

Well done Richard. That "new" FGT looks very similar to the one I measured up for you here in Holland. Sadly the same piece of body always get's cut!

Default Safe and Sound for the Winter FGTs/FAT

Recently, I was able to consolidate the FGT's and the FAT components into my storage barn. They are now safe, dry and out of the elements. They will stay here until mid 2015 as they are 2015/2016 restoration projects. I will continue to keep an eye open for the "elusive" rear shell components.
