Default Ford CMP generator terminals

The generator for my 1941 Cab 12 F8 has two terminals (see photo). The one on the side is clearly marked Field and I assume that the one on the back face is the Armature connection. But there is no obvious terminal for the ground. Where does the ground connection go?

I have a spare generator and it is exactly the same as the one shown.

Default ground

david

They normally have the ground connection through the body or housing of the generator itself ...to the motor ..then onto the chasiss ..onto the body etc... It's worthwhile installing a heavy braid ground strap from the motor to the cab at somewhere convenient. A lot of poor starting problems can be traced to poor grounds . I think some vehicles have a dedicated ground wire from the gene as well ..depends on how it is set up..look at your wiring diagram.
